Biography
Haj Habibollah Rajabian (born in 1924) started the handmade carpet business at the age of 17. At the beginning, he was the apprentice of Mr. Mohammad Norouzi who was originally from Kerman and his working and living place were both at Cottage garden. As time went on and by learning details from his master, he started to produce carpets independently. Later, when the silk entered to the carpet industry in Qom and the silk flowers on carpets became a trend; he was one of the first persons who took the risk to produce full silk carpets in the city. At that time, he sold his silk rugs for 2000 Tomans. From the very beginning, Haj Habibollah focused to produce silk and he became one of the main suppliers of the needed silk and pile in Qom and Shahreza cities.
Haj Habibollah Rajabian is counted as one of the carpet business pioneers and forerunners especially in Qom city. In 2015, Haj Habibollah was remembered and honored as one of the most influential personalities of Qom carpet business during the conference of “The Golden Knot of Ostad Rashtizadeh”.
Haj Habibollah Rajabian had an artistic perception of the carpet and he tried to give a great artistic identity to Qom Handmade rugs and fortunately His artistic view to the carpets inherited to his children and grandchildren.
I, Vahid Keramatian , the grandchild of Haj Habibollah, decided to continue the art of my grandfather so I planned to open KERAMATIAN CARPET COLLECTION which is a Handmade Full Silk Carpet production line in Qom City. I started the carpet business at the age of 15 and considering my familiarity with my grandfather’s perception of carpet art, I began to draw carpet patterns. I had this idea that the carpet pattern is one of the most essential keys to complete the other production steps perfectly and I believed I as a producer should learn all the details of producing including drawing, designing and all the other steps of production in case of having the power to solve all the unexpected problems happening during the production in order to have an amazing product which is flawless in every aspects such as quality, design and harmony in colors.
This viewpoint made me get inspired by other Iranian arts such as architecture and mixing the valued Persian elements existing in this art with the modern needs of today customer and using them together in my patterns which results to have distinct patterns. The distinction is not limited only to unique patterns; but I also tried risking to use very special eye-catching colors in my carpets.
Currently, in order to produce high quality silk carpets; the grade 5 raw natural silk is imported from China by my own team which has passed the needed tests and received all the needed licenses from our trusted inspection company proving it is a high quality real Chinese product.
